Doll 2002 - 12 In. 1860's China with Taffy Colored Hair, Snood and Pink Band, Side Bows
Price: $750

Detailed Description

This 1860's china lady stands tall even though she is only 12 inches in height.  She has an aire of dignity not found on all chinas.  She has a black snood covering her taffy colored hair and a pink band across the top decorated with gold luster and two pink plump tassels or bows on each side over her ears.  There is a distinct outlining of the snood from below her ears around the back of her neck.  She has wide sloping shoulders and a broad face giving her a mature look.  Similiar shoulder head chinas were used to create the autoperipatetikos mechanical walking doll around 1862.  This lady has a cloth body and lower china limbs with painted black boots.  One of her knees has a crack that has been there forever and a painted-over chip on her left toe.  The antique silk dress has shredded to the tan cotton lining but who can complain after so many years of wear?  Her cotton lace trimmed unders are in tact and wonderful.
