Detailed Description
Beautiful German china shoulder head doll from the 1880's. She is exemplary of the very fine works of the Kling & Co. factory which was credited with production of high quality china and bisque doll heads for a long period of time. The bell shaped Kling mark and the mold number 188 is incised on the back of the shoulder plate. The black curls and bangs encasing her lovely face and the expressive painted features are typical of the Kling factory. She is on a replacement hard stuffed cloth body with stitched joints at the hips and knees, and lower china limbs. She has painted flat heeled brown boots. Her antique mini-print cotton dress is typical of the period with an ecru wide lace off-the-shoulder flouce collar and loose gathers at the elbow of the set-in sleeves. The slightly gathered skirt is mid-calf length. She is an ideal doll for the beginner collector who has an eye for quality, perfection and overall charm at a very reasonable price.
