Doll 1894 - German Bisque Head Character Toddler Marked "157 / 10"


I have been unable to attach this mold number to a maker but it is within the Kley & Hahn series of characters and has similiar features. The quality of bisque is excellent and comparable to Kley & Hahn, Kestner and Kammer & Reinhardt. He has outlined lips and feathered brows that are almost straight across instead of arched, adding more character to his beautiful face. He has upper and lower painted lashes and his brown glass eyes appear to be sleep eyes but, as a result of being stored in heat, they seem to be stuck. I have not removed his original in-tact mohair wig but have examined his bisque head with lights and found no damage. He has a beautiful chubby slant hip fully jointed composition toddler body with red lined fingers and toes and jointed wrists. The bisque head is creamy and his cheek blush is evenly applied. This lad looks ready for a day of sailing in his two piece knicker and jacket set made from antique fabrics. His sailor cap completes his ensemble.
