Doll 1889 - 100% Original German Wind-Up Mechanical Nursemaid and Baby

If you like the unusual and quality wind-up toys in the doll genre, you should take time to study this one. It is a fabulous creation and I believe quite rare of a baby trying to take her first steps with the help of a nursemaid who is holding the baby's hands. When key-wound, the lady turns her head back and forth and turns her body from side to side in a circular motion as the baby seems to be taking steps. The movements are smooth and the piece works as well as if new. The lady has a beautiful quality bisque head, blue glass set eyes (factory set), wooden lower arms, wire armature upper arms and and carton body with metal feet. The baby has a heavy celluloid head, wooden lower arms, paper mache or composition legs covered with socks and both are 100% original, including their lacey ruffled bonnets. It is amazing that this piece is in near mint condition and works so well after 100 or more years.
