Doll 1888 - Early Schmitt & Fils Bebe, Shield Mark Head and Body

Marked "2 and SCH" inside shield on the back of her neck, clearly a masterpiece by Schmitt & Fils, Paris, France in the early pressed bisque head era. This bebe has beautiful black outlined pale, pale blue eyes accented with a slight mauve shadowing, pale feathered arched brows and softly drawn upper and lower lashes. Her outlined closed lips have a lighter shade of lip tint between them that gives the impression of a tongue. Her cheeks are tinted lightly in a soft coral shade. Her original mohair wig peeks from beneath the fabulous wire brimmed bonnet that has to be the factory original matching bonnet to her antique frock with rows and rows of lace and ribbon inserts. The Schmitt body (original patina with normal wear) has the Schmitt trademark stamp on the flat bottom edge of the torso. She is wearing cotton lace antique socks and antique French shoes. This is truly a fine example of a very desirable French bebe having the greatest appeal and no evidence of mishaps through the years. In fact, I believe she was treated like royalty and rightly so!
