12-1/2 In. Estate Doll Never Played With

Doll 1879 - Near MINT, Original Character Toddler 201 by CP

Rarely are antique dolls found in this condition! She is from the German Doll Factory of Catterfelder Puppenfabrik, Thuringia, Germany. The bisque heads for these CP characters were made by other firms such as Kestner. Jan Foulke's comment in her new Guide to Dolls is "The C.P. character children are very rarely found and are eagerly sought-after by collectors of rare characters." This darling girl is not shown in this large size in the guide. She is a 12-1/2 inch toddler on her original five-piece chubby slant hip toddler body. It is a fine quality heavy body with lots of modeling and still has the red lines and pink blushed knees and elbows. I do not see a crack or paint chip, or any kind of wear on the body as though the doll was never touched. She is proud to still have her original wig, pate, drop waist cotton print dress, onesie, cotton socks and wonderful lace-up leather shoes with pom-poms on the toes. Her original bonnet fabric and lace trim matches that of her dress. She even has the original belt ribbon with rosette at the waist and the light blue silk rosettes on her bonnet. Miss 201 has all of the fine artistic facial features you would want--finely stroked upper and lower lashes, feathered brows, blushed cheeks and shaded lips. She is a blue-eyed (glass sleep) darling reaching out to a collector who will place her in a cabinet after being boxed away for years. She is a blue-ribbon-winner and a museum piece as a factory original 100 year-old doll. We will have to replace her arm stringing as her arms are too loose to display, but otherwise, she is 100% factory original.
