Meet Barney Google, the goo-goo-googlely eyed character created by cartoonist Billy DeBeck and manufactured in 1918 by Schoenhut. He ended up in a fine Texas estate sale and now here he is! Barney is dressed originally and is in excellent condition with only a possible light touchup (?) to his left brow and a bit of scuff above it. He can be viewed in this exact costume on page 89 in Elaine and Dan Buser's Guide to Schoenhut's Dolls, Toys and Circus. He has a mend on the left leg of his pants that is not distracting. Every Schoenhut collection needs an example of the cartoon characters presented by this great American doll and toymaker.
