Body 5018 - 12.5 Inch German Composition Child Body


Excellent condition German ball jointed body for a 16-17 inch doll. It is the quality of the Handwerck bodies and may be from that factory. A bit of provenance is handwritten in pencil on the body, "Mildred /1900 / Curtis," which probably means the doll was a gift. The shoulder, elbow and knee ball joints are separated from the limbs. The red accent lines are on the toes and fingers. The original patina is shiny and has a light flesh undercolor with yellowing varnish. Very few scuff marks, if any, and the fingers are all present with one pointer seemingly having mild restoration. This body has chubbier proportions and detailed upper leg modeling that many bodies do not have, similar to those on character dolls. Across the neck opening measures 1-5/16th inches.
